Hasn't the NBA endured enough flack about their referee's being tied to the mob, betting on games, shaving points, etc...

Now one of the most respected ref's in the game puts into writing his own ties to the mob, albeit from the other side of the blue line and wired with a mic.

Somehow, although he is a fine ref and an upstanding law and order guy, I doubt that David Stern enjoys this very much. I bet he would sleep better at night if the book were about something tame, equestrian competition or yachting perhaps. Anything to keep from bringing up the idea in the backs of peoples minds that these guys are human, that they are payed a pittance compared to 99% of the people they work with on a nightly basis, and the temptation to use their power for evil could easily become all consuming if personal or money matters are not what they would like off the court.
